Operating a Valve Correctly
Verify direction Valve opens (Open Left or Open Right).
- Use a proper smooth wrench or valve key.
- Verify Valve is in full open position.
- Count full turns. 360 Degrees is 1 full turn.
- Once the number of turns is reached, verify shutdown. If shutdown is not satisfactory, the operator may need to exercise the Valve. Turn Valve back open 5 turns. Then turn back down 5 turns. Each time this exercising is performed, Valve may increase the distance the resilient wedge travels down into the pipe. This is not only okay but preferred, as the Valve is working its way down through the build-up in the host pipe and creating a better seal against the bottom of the host pipe.
- Keep track of total turns.
- EZ Valve does not guarantee a 100% shutdown. There may be some pass-through which will be less than 5 gallons per minute. If the flow is greater than 5 GPM, please contact BWCSI to assess issues that may have arisen.
